At Trinity, Covington, we are engaged in a Strategic Filtering process with our consultant Andi Tilmann. The purpose of this process is to ask our congregation “What is God calling our parish to do/be, and what would that look like for Trinity?” through seven Listening Questions. The result will be a “strategic filter” grounded in our identified shared vision and values.
This strategic filter will then serve as the foundation for future decision-making at Trinity; allowing us to consistently evaluate whether proposed actions align with our agreed-upon shared values and direction.
Thanks to our 2016 Parish Survey results, we know how important it is that we include the entire congregation in this process of discovery. This Listening Question process is specifically designed to welcome every voice.
Because each person’s unique perspective truly matters, your participation is vital to ensuring the integrity of the process, and to the future of Trinity. Answering the questions below is the first crucial step. You are being invited to respond in several ways, to accommodate different people’s styles and be as fully inclusive as possible and it is fine to respond more than once.
You may respond by:
- 1) Submitting the electronic Google form, found at trinitycovington.org/listening
- 3) By hard-copy written answers, delivered to the church office.
- 4) By verbally presenting your answers during one of the Listening Sessions July 8-9, 2017.
Our consultant will be facilitating several group Listening Sessions throughout the weekend of July 8 & 9. Listening Sessions for theme-related groups will be held at scheduled times throughout the day on Saturday, July 8th. A general Listening Session will be held during Adult Forum on Sunday, July 9th. Anyone is invited to attend any Listening Session(s) they feel called to, even if you have submitted your answers in another form.
We need to receive all submissions, in any format, by July 16, 2017.
We invite you to remember that this process is a spiritual exercise, an exploration of God’s call for Trinity and our shared future. Please take time to pray and to seek His guidance and direction before and as you answer these questions.
Parish response highlights and our resulting Strategic Filter will be shared with the congregation in September 2017, along with our parish’s next steps.
Thank you for your love and devotion to our Lord’s work at Trinity.
May the Holy Spirit work in our hearts and minds to lead us into God’s future for Trinity Episcopal Church!
